Assistant Preschool Teacher (Toddler Classroom)

The Montessori Day School of Brooklyn is seeking a joyful and passionate Early Childhood toddler assistant teacher to join our amazing staff of educators.The ideal candidate should be in process or already possess their certificate in Infant/ toddler Montessori instructions and should have experience working in a Montessori preschool program. The candidate must possess skills to work well with others and a deep understanding of the importance of a prepared learning environment. The ideal candidate will be warm, vibrant and compassionate towards children and will help to create a joyful learning environment with their teaching team.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in meetings with administration about student growth and curriculum
• Attend all faculty meetings and attend professional development opportunities
• Plan and work collegially with the team
• Work with and support the Co-Teachers in preparing and maintaining an emotionally responsive, nurturing, accepting, and safe classroom environment that provides both independent and social learning that meets the varying needs of the students
• Support teaching team in conducting family conferences and end of year narrative reports

Qualifications:

• Enthusiastic about working with small children in a mixed-age classroom
• Growth mindset and problem-solving approach
• Experience working in a diverse and inclusive setting
• Proficiency in technology (Microsoft Word, Excel, Google apps, School Communication apps i.e Tadpoles, ParentSquare, BrightWheel)
• Experience working with children ages 2's and 3's
• Strong ability to communicate effectively with team members, parents, and administrators
• Early Childhood Education (Associates or Bachelors degree required)
• Must have experience and be knowledgeable about Early Childhood development and education
• Experience working in an AMS Montessori environment preferred
• Montessori teacher certification a + (but will consider applicants on the pathway to receiving Montessori certification or Montessori experience)
• Strong desire for professional growth and development
