Sumida Farm is a small, family owned and operated business in ʻAiea, Hawaiʻi. Our purpose is to care for the land in order to provide peace, comfort, education, and nourishment for the community. For 95+ years, Sumida Farm has nourished the community through our fresh watercress. We grow our world class watercress in the freshwater of the Kalauao Springs and distribute over 90% of the islandsʻ watercress. We need a hardworking, dedicated, and reliable person who can grow with our business as the assistant to our Front Operations and Field Operations Managers. This role would be a jack of all trades. You would learn all aspects of our farm business and with time have the ability to define your own role and responsibilities. Our business is evolving and we need someone who has a passion for learning, critical thinking, and is a proactive, creative problem solver to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Other duties as assigned by management
• Facilities cleaning and maintenance
• Greet and load pick up orders for customers
• Drive forklift to transport loads of watercress
• Performs maintenance and repairs on farm equipment as needed
• Equipment sanitation plan management and field worker training
• Package and prepare watercress for deliveries
• Assist with basic office and clerical duties
• Follow all food and health safety standards
• Operate machinery to process watercress for customers
• Assist with deliveries

Qualifications

• Must have drivers license, clean driving record, and be able to drive a delivery van
• Must work well with others and be open to training and learning
• Must be able to operate machinery
• Must have basic computer skills including ability to utilize Google platform (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Presentation, Meet, Gmail).
• Must be able to lift 50+lbs
• Must be able to drive a forklift (license a plus, otherwise we will provide reimbursement for obtaining license)
