JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, this position performs a dual role. This role assists with the daily management of the unit, coordinates patient flow, assures appropriate staffing, supports budget compliance, and prepares performance evaluations. This role functions as a clinical expert and participates in on-going professional development to remain abreast of contemporary clinical information and nursing theory. This position communicates information and participates in the orientation of new Team Members.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Supervised by: Nurse Manager
Supervision provided to: Registered Nurses; other licensed and licensed Team Members
Qualifications
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education & Training: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required; Bachelors’ degree in Nursing preferred. Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Maryland is required. Certification in BCLS is required.
Work Orientation & Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of recent nursing experience in an acute care setting. Proven clinical competence and proficiency in the area of specialty is required.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to: a) prioritize work assignments and complete duties within prescribed time frames; b) establish and maintain positive working relationships and open lines of communication with a variety of people; c) make independent decisions; d) demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills; e) demonstrate the following skills: planning, decision-making, delegating and coaching; and f) manages effectively in a constantly-changing, high-pressure environment.
