Job Description

The WNC Agricultural Center is a self-supporting, multi-use complex that operates 364 days per year. The primary purpose of the facility is to serve the horse/ livestock and trade show industries and meet the needs of both the agricultural and non-agricultural community by providing and maintaining buildings and grounds capable of hosting equine events, tradeshows, conventions, seminars, community events and public expos as well as carrying out all activities of the annual North Carolina Mountain State Fair. The North Carolina Mountain State Fair serves the agricultural, manufacturing, commercial, educational, governmental, and other agencies across the State and its visitors.
This position is to provide management of the administrative functions of the Western NC Agricultural Center Exposition Section which include Virginia Boone Meeting Center, Davis Event Center, Expo Building, and the NC Mountain State Fair and to assume duties of the WNC Agricultural Center Manager in the Manager’s absence. This position has the responsibility of overseeing the operating, continuation, expansion, and capital improvement budgets, Daily administrative functions include the oversight of sponsorships, purchasing, exposition facility rentals, advertising and promotion, and competitive exhibits and supervision of administrative staff. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate a variety of simultaneous activities and events.

Management Preference:
  • Experience with agricultural fairs, trade shows, expos and/or other events.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five (5) years of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
