Overview

Join the Burlington team as an Assistant General Manager – Distribution Centers – Edgewater Park, NJ in one of our state-of-the-art Distribution Centers. This role is for the 2nd shift (3:00pm - 2:00am) from Monday - Thursday (4 x 10s).

Oversee the management of production activities of the distribution center, and direct activities sothat service level requirements and quality standards are met while meeting cost objectives. This is an operational / administrative management position reporting and accountable to the General Manager of Distribution Operations.Activities of this position include responsibility for planning, directing, coordinating and ensuring the execution of allproduction functions within the Distribution Center consistent with Federal, State, Company and Budgetary guidelines. The primary responsibility is to ensure maximum store service at maximum cost efficiency.This position will providesupport to the 800 plus Burlington Coat Factory stores nationwide. Experience in a fast paced, dynamic distribution environment is required.

  • Actively pursue appropriate training, communication sessions and emergency drills fulfilling all OSHA requirements and preparedness of all team members.
  • Inspire and motivate the team to complete challenging assignments to facilitate individual growth and development while fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Select, train, develop and maintain operational managers meet daily and future operational goals.
  • Manager labor levels to closely match production requirements to ensure cost effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain safety programs to reduce risk and incidents in the work place.
  • Partner with loss prevention to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements are in the distribution center.
  • Develop management team through active career planning and performance management programs.
  • Support training initiatives to ensure optimal staffing and efficiency levels in the Distribution Center.
  • Direct the operations of the distribution center to ensure all phases of operation – Safety, Service, Quality and Expense
  • Work closely with production planning to oversee all special requests and projects are completed within the distribution center.
  • Work closely with production planning and the scheduling to coordinate the receipt, processing and shipment of all merchandise within established service level agreements.
  • Lead associates to anticipate and solve problems and plan for upcoming events, seasonal changes etc.
  • Work closely with the maintenance organization to ensure the facility is properly maintained for efficient and safe operation.
  • Provide appropriate reporting as required.
  • Assist senior management in the development and formulation of long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
  • Establish and maintain operational procedures in partnership with Engineering, Inventory Control, Finance and POC across all activities in the distribution center to ensure the facility exceeds expectations in the areas of safety, service, quality and cost.
  • Provide frequent feedback, counsel and coaching to team members and associates as appropriate both informal and formal.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of and recommend alternatives for work methods, procedures and staffing.
  • Ensure operational excellence in all facets of distribution center operations.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • 10 years related experience in automated warehouse operations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience utilizing Manhattan’s Warehouse Management System, Radio Frequency Receiving and Directed Fork Lift Operation, Pick or Put to Light Systems, Conveyor Receiving utilizing Label Print and Apply equipment and Garment on Hanger operations desired.
  • Analytical problem solver.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
