Job Description

My client, is a ~$750 million AUM private equity firm based in Fairfield Country, Connecticut. The Firm pursues control investments in performing middle-market Industrials companies.

The Firm is seeking an Assistant Controller to join our experienced and collaborative team. Successful candidates will have 5+ years of private equity fund accounting experience with the ability to work both individually and with a team in fast paced environment. This person will join a team of 14 professionals. The Firm is a results oriented close knit-working environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve capital calls and distributions including investor calculations and notices
  • Review and update internal monitoring and marketing presentations.
  • Responsible for completeness & accuracy for all accounting & performance reporting
  • Assist with the coordination, review, and completion of the annual audits with fund administrator and external auditors
  • Assist in developing and maintaining systems and processes of reconciling to administrators’ records with particular focus on recalculating capital accounts; Drawdowns, Distributions, waterfall calculation, IRR, MOIC and preferred returns
  • Seek improvements to strive for greater efficiency
  • Assist in timely regulatory filing requirements including Form PF and Form ADV
  • Review each fund’s principal documents and access accounting complexities around fund terms
  • Liaise and develop relationships with custodians, third party administrators, and other vendors

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related discipline preferred
  • 5+ years of Private Equity experience at an Asset Management Firm or Fund Administrator
  • Ability to independently execute instructions with attention to detail
  • Advanced Skills in Excel
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of partnerships, fund structures, waterfalls, preferred return/carried interest, and capital transactions
  • Exhibits leadership qualities and takes ownership of projects and deliverables
  • Experience coordinating multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
