Job Description

Position Summary and Responsibilities

The Indiana Connections Assistant Director of Student Services is a 12-month work-from-home position. The Assistant Director of Student Services manages a team of administrative assistants and staff supporting students and learning coaches in a comprehensive virtual charter school. The Assistant Director of Student Services is responsible for the school’s attendance and engagement tier III operations, including working with parents, students, support staff, and certified staff. The Assistant Director of Student Services will serve Indiana Connections Academy and Indiana Connections Career Academy. The position reports to the Executive Director. An administrator's license is required, and a special education license is preferred.

Other key responsibilities include the following:

  • Monitor contacts alarm students post welfare check and take further action when necessary;
  • Contact students between 7-9 days of unexcused absences about possible withdrawal;
  • Home visits as needed;
  • Manage relevant relationships with the Indiana Department of Education, and stay current on the state’s policies, procedures, and legislation, including specific count day and audit procedures, etc., and accurately submit all required reports and paperwork in a timely manner;
  • Other duties
  • Synthesizing SIP updates and improvements;
  • Attend all level/ school admin meetings;
  • Contact all referred contacts alarm students before coordinating a welfare check with the counseling team;
  • Conduct K-12 INCA and 6-12 INCC Tier 3 Engagement meetings and processes
  • Process student no shows during enrollment periods;
  • Monitor medical withdrawals and assist with re-enrollments;
  • Participation;
  • Tracking the effectiveness of strategies and processes;
  • Lead appropriate committees related to attendance/absenteeism and participate actively in relevant dropout prevention schoolwide efforts and committees
  • Work with key administrators to solve student concerns escalated by caretakers;
  • Assist families in need of additional support to encourage a high level of
  • Work with the school’s administrators and staff to create, implement, manage, and monitor the district engagement school improvement- continual improvement plan;
  • School nurse- immunization compliance; and
  • Conduct exit interviews before students withdraw from school;
  • Supervise attendance support staff, social work staff, and 504 teams;
  • Excused absences monitoring and reporting;
  • Leading aligning engagement process/ procedures;
  • Attendance cycle reviews for all levels and schools;
  • Exhibit high-quality communication with all Connections Academy school staff, students and
  • Families;
