Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITIONUnder the direction of the Director of Special Education, supports administration of the districts services for students with disabilities PK-12, and general preschool programming, to enhance the school districts goals and objectives, and in accordance with Federal and State laws and guidelines. This position collaborates with building and district teams to support the unique academic and behavioral needs of identified students with the goal of improved outcomes for students with disabilities, while maintaining compliance with Federal and State expectations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Support the documentation, monitoring, and delivery of services for all resident students with disabilities or impairments ages, 3-22 as assigned by the Director of Special Education. This includes students receiving services: in the district placements outside the district boundaries home instruction nonpublic schools within the district nonpublic schools outside of the district through Child Find responsibilities nonpublic placements receiving scholarship funding through ODESupport district requirements with Federal and State compliance, as assigned by the Director of Special Education, who is the District Compliance Office Identification and evaluation of students - Child Find MFE/IEP document compliance and monitoring MFE/IEP implementation support and monitoring State reviews and audits of the special education programming support Preschool licensing and Step Up To Quality Preschool special education rules and regulations Oversight and compliance with the transition from early intervention programs - Help Me Grow Support building to building student transition collaboration and postsecondary transitionSupport the supervision and evaluation process, as assigned by the Director of Special Education as follows: Related Services Personnel Special Education Coordinators Preschool Teachers Support the implementation and monitoring of caseload management for applicable roles within the districtSupport preschool curriculum implementation and alignment with the Early Learning Development StandardsSupport the Human Capital Office and Director of Special Education services throughout the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of staff, as assigned by the Director of Special Education Services PK-12 Intervention Specialists Preschool General Education Teachers Special Education Paraprofessionals Related Services Personnel Supporting onboarding and continued professional development/training.
Performs additional duties as required by the Director of Special Education and/or Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent of SchoolsSKILLS AND ABILITIESDemonstrate a firm understanding and knowledge of Ohios special education laws and Federal requirements.Demonstrate a firm understanding of evidence based practices and improving the outcomes of students with disabilitiesDemonstrate a firm understanding and knowledge of Ohios education laws.Knowledge and understanding of the Ohio Revised Code and state requirements pertaining to the educational system, school, and student safety.Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and teamwork skills.Possess a high degree of organizational skills.Demonstrates enthusiasm and a sincere desire to assist all students.Ability to communicate professionally and effectively through oral, written, and presentation communication. Ability to solve extensive problems quickly, systematically, and effectively. Ability to demonstrate educational leadership, commitment to academic excellence, sensitivity to multicultural issues, and fiscal and budgetary responsibility.Knowledge in word processing, spreadsheet, database software, google suite, and current learning management systems.Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work.
