The Assistant Director is responsible for coordinating department of nursing programs, projects and initiatives and serves as a consultant to other nursing and hospital departments. The Assistant Director is responsible for planning, implementing and/or evaluating defined programs/projects in the department of nursing with a focus on nursing education. Is involved in all aspects of staff development to include orientation and continuing education. Serves as a resource to staff and managers in regard to patient care standards and staff education needs.
Assists in the identification and analysis of education needs of staff.
Collaborates in the development and implementation of comprehensive orientation programs.
Implements annual training/certification programs in collaboration with education team
Evaluates staff performance in the delivery of nursing care and provides guidance as needed.
Evaluates effectiveness of education programs related to orientation, training and continuing education. Modifies education programs, as needed, based on evaluation data.
Demonstrates effective communication and conflict management skills.
Fosters development and expertise of clinical skills utilizing various teaching modalities.
Fosters relationships, placements, and programs with Schools of Nursing
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's degree from an accredited school of nursing.
At least five years of experience in nursing is required.
Required Licensure, Certification, On-going Training:
Current licensure as a registered nurse by the State of Maryland.
Must maintain current CPR certification.
