Job Description
Red Coats Inc. is a privately held company founded over 60 years ago based in Bethesda, Maryland. We specialize in providing commercial office cleaning services to a myriad of customers. We have established ourselves as a results-oriented, customer-focused company, and now have multiple offices in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, California, and Texas. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and proven Assistant Controller. This position will work closely with the Controller and Vice President of Finance. You will be responsible for assisting with the month-end closing of financial statements for multiple companies, assisting in the supervision of staff, implementing new accounting software, and a variety of accounting functions within the department.   • Additional duties as necessary
  • Work with implementing new accounting software.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Experience with creating financial statements.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process for various companies
  • Reconcile all liability GL accounts for multiple companies.
  • Excellent accounting software knowledge and communication skills
  • 5+ years of financial management experience
  • Responsible for leading the day-to-day accounting functions, such as managing accounting billing, cash, and collections to ensure invoices go out promptly, payments are applied correctly, and collections are maintained.
  • Ensure deadlines are met by all departments to ensure timely closing of financial statements.
  • Play a key role in managing all external audits, including financial, tax, and regulatory, as necessary.
  • Monitor and ensure Federal and State payroll tax payments are made on time and no penalties are assessed.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Expert level knowledge in Excel and Microsoft Office
  • CPA required.
