Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) is the master planning, creative design, engineering, production, project management, and research and development arm of The Walt Disney Company. Its experienced corps of Imagineers is responsible for the creation - from concept initiation through installation - of all Disney Resorts, theme parks and attractions, real estate developments, regional entertainment venues, and new media projects.

Construction Management is responsible for supervising and coordinating all on-site activities from the first shovel in the ground through the installation and testing phases. Construction Managers supervise the overall field processes including safety, quality, and schedule while providing technical expertise and ensuring work in place meets quality requirements of contract documents, applicable codes, and Disney standards. They also coordinate and connect with all WDI Studios, Operations and Security, contractors, vendors, and governmental agencies. Construction Management participates in the design process as well to bring a sense of constructability to the integration of the various design disciplines and the scoping/bidding of the work to be executed.

This is a year-long Project Hire position with no guarantee of permanent placement. It will be primarily a night shift coverage position from 11pm-7am which is a vital step in the career path of growth in the Construction Management studio.

You will report to the Executive Construction Management.

Responsibilities/You will:

  • Establish a network of contacts throughout the resort and active contractors to ensure night work progresses efficiently and transitions smoothly to the day shift staff over a menu of multiple projects.
  • Track permits through the COA website
  • Assist the design teams with troubleshooting, exploration, and collection of as-built conditions and information at night when attractions are down.
  • Implement QA/QC and safety responsibilities and processes
  • Facilitates production of mock-ups/first articles for approval
  • Monitors construction management contract compliance, submittal, and shop drawing process
  • Provide site coverage
  • Reviews contract applications for payment and makes recommendations to the Construction Manager
  • Assist with punch/completion lists and collection of closeout documents and spares
  • Manages the safety program in close coordination with Worldwide Safety
  • Maintains clarification, submittal, and deficiency logs
  • Assist with informational flow and tracking of project critical documentation including RFI's, submittals, shop drawings, substitutions, and changes
  • Perform multiple daily site walks and inspections throughout all areas of the site, including investigative and troubleshooting assessments
  • Prepares site logistics plans
  • Assist field team with daily issue resolution with other team members
  • Coordinates with governmental agencies
  • Prepares contract directives for Construction Manager review
  • Manages Owner Furnished items
  • Keeps record of weather impacts


Basic Qualifications/You will have:

  • Understanding of the Project Development process
  • Ability to comfortably connect with project team, vendors, consultants, and WDI/DPEP partners
  • Experience with scheduling, estimating, budgeting, and quality control
  • Expanded computer proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Theme park attraction construction experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and use platforms such as Bluebeam and BIM 360 Field/Glue/Docs
  • Organization skills and task management
  • Ability to understand the needs of the client and to maintain relationships between the owner/operator
  • Comfortable in facilitating and leading groups of people to reach a consensus on decisions and work planning
  • 3+ years of outside job-related experience or 2+ years of WDI Construction Management


Education:

  • Preferred certifications in OSHA 30, AED/CPR, Stop the Bleed, H-4/H-5 Hazard Risks
  • A bachelor’s degree is required. A focus in construction engineering is preferred, but consideration will also be given to bachelor’s degrees in construction management, architecture, landscape architecture, or other facility-related engineering fields when coupled with real world construction experience.

The hiring range for this position in Anaheim, CA is $92,742 to $124,410 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
