Position at Metropolitan Club


TheAssistant Club Operations Manager has shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the club's operations and membership experience. Along with the Club Operations Manager, the ACOM (3 positions in total) has accountability for planning, organizing, and directing all service experiences, from casual member meetings to member lunches and dinners to the largest events hosted at the club. The ACOM will have responsibilities delegated to him/her by the COM, including financial management and execution, service-level leadership and execution, and member experience and relationships. Specialty roles may emerge among the ACOMs, but ideally, the roles are interchangeable and operate entirely as a team.


Essential Functions


  • Helps to update the daily, weekly, monthly & quarterly revenue/expense projections.
  • Helps answer incoming phone calls, directing callers to the appropriate destination and resolution of the purpose of their call.
  • Helps maintain supplies.
  • Helps orient and guide members and guests upon their arrival to the club and throughout their daily usage.
  • Help manage thedelivery of service to all restaurants, banquets, lounge, and catering operations (Met Bar, Roebling Room, and all banquet space).
  • Ensure security is effective.
  • Help collaborate with Executive Chef to control food costs.
  • Help achieve the club's overall profit targets.
  • Helps coordinate carry-out orders.
  • Carry out inspections of property and services.
  • Execute or oversee opening and closing duties.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor service staff to ensure the highest level of service quality available in the marketplace.
  • Helps coordinate dining and event reservations.
  • Works closely with COM in establishing and monitoring policies and guidelines in day-to-day operations.
  • Helps update member profiles.
  • Helps manage the implementation of menus, package deals, promotions, displays, and decorations.
  • Help improve profitability for the food & beverage operations.
  • Assists in entering and submitting all transmittals to the Commonwealth Hotels accounts payable department.
  • Help oversee the club's maintenance and facilities.
  • Help complete weekly payroll, tip share & payroll analysis.
  • Receives and addresses constructive comments concerning all services.
  • Help plan work schedules.
  • Help with the administration of all beverage responsibilities (i.e. order, inventory, costs).
  • Work with the management team to create and implement a business plan.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety, and other statutory regulations.
  • Ensure events run smoothly.
  • Help develop and manage budgets, financial plans, financial records, and statistical information, working with the Club Operations Manager and Executive Chef.


Other Duties


Demonstrate working knowledge of all service standards as well as follow and practice the Metropolitan Club Playbook on a daily basis.


Assimilate into the Commonwealth culture through understanding, supporting, and participating in all elements of the culture. Demonstrate working knowledge of the service standards.


Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by Commonwealth from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS


Education/Experience


  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from college or any other combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge skills, and abilities with a minimum of 4 years of food and beverage management experience of Department Head or above. High school diploma required.
