Job Description
of the Role
The position of MIG Assembly Welder I involves the fabrication, repair, and joining of steel parts through the use of specialized equipment and gas metal arc welding techniques.
Responsibilities And Duties
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines when carrying out welding activities.
  • Follow established processes and rules to support safety and quality programs.
  • Prepare materials and set up welding devices or robots as required.
  • Complete any necessary apprenticeship or formal training in the area of specialty.
  • Carry out any other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, or diagrams to determine the most suitable welding process for each project.
  • Apply appropriate welding techniques to join, fabricate, and repair various metals and other materials.
  • Conduct quality checks on completed welds to ensure structural integrity and safety.
Qualifications And Skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints accurately.
  • Ability to convert metric to English.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent (preferred).
  • Relevant apprenticeship, experience, or vocational training, preferred.
  • Ability to convert fractions to decimals and vice versa.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools such as hammers, pliers, screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, grinders, and banders.
  • Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, box calipers, slide dial calipers, and micrometers.
  • Ability to operate forklift and cranes safely and effectively.
  • Must pass a MIG welder certification.
