Summary:


This position is located in Chanute, Kansas. Relocation assitance is available.


Direct aerospace assembly experience required. The right individual will be able to perform all responsibilities of the position listed below. Assemble, modify and install aircraft structural assemblies, sub-assemblies, and structures on aircraft systems at the capability level of an Assembler III.


Responsibilities


  • Prepares work to be accomplished by following work instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Perform repairs and rework, under direct supervision, for issues which require MRB instructions or approval.
  • Perform final check to ensure all assemblies and detail parts are free of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and non-conformance issues.
  • Shim, fit, trim and align structural assemblies and sub-assemblies using premade shims.
  • Perform final close and final check to ensure all assemblies and detail parts are free of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and non-conformance issues.
  • Self-inspect work in accordance with Customer Specifications
  • Correct imperfections, such as skin canning conditions, buckles, wrinkles in outer skins and remove surface defects as assigned.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and participate in implementation of process improvements. Follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to safety officials or manufacturing supervision.
  • Perform repairs and rework, without direct supervision, for issues which require MRB (Material Review Board) instructions or approval.
  • Be the technical expert on the production floor and provide training on all aspects of assembly.
  • Follow all safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to safety officials or manufacturing supervision.
  • Ensure all assemblies and detail parts are free of Foreign Object Debris (FOD) and non-conformance issues.
  • Maintain an “Ultra C-Lean” working environment by following proper work procedures, ensuring a clean work area, and confirming at the beginning and end of each shift that the work area has an accurate inventory of tools.
  • Report on job status and productions restraints to Team leaders and/or Production Supervisor.
  • Assemble aircraft subassemblies in accordance with work instruction and engineering documents, with or without the aid of jigs and fixtures, by drilling, filing, filling, reaming, countersinking, burring, and fastening using various hand tools, as well as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Shim, fit, trim and align structural assemblies and sub-assemblies using custom made shims.
  • Keeps tools and tooling operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; notifying Team Lead or Supervisor of any needed repair.
  • Perform repairs and rework for issues not requiring MRB (Material Review Board) instructions or approval.
  • Assemble aircraft structures and subassemblies in accordance with work instruction and engineering documents, with or without the aid of jigs and fixtures, by drilling, filing, filling, reaming, countersinking, burring, and fastening using various hand tools, as well as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
  • Self-inspect work in accordance with Customer Specifications using Calibrated Precision Measuring Devices (i.e.: Calipers, Micrometers, Height Gauges, etc.)
  • Report all non-conformances to Team Leads and/or Production Supervisor.
  • Join sub-assemblies such as fairings and the mating of major assembly callouts, butt, station and water lines; blind pick up of hole locations for blank parts from existing structure.
  • Maintain production schedule, Earned Standard Hour objectives, and production goals.
