ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Metropolitan Museum’s Department of Live Arts commissions and presents new works of performance: music, words, movement, sound, and related hybrids. This singular body of work enables audiences to discover untested modes of performance, furthers the Museum’s position as a center for shared understanding, and serves as a vibrant creative locus for living artists.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
You will serve as a liaison with artists while they are rehearsing and performing at the museum and as such you will interact on a day-to-day basis with artists as well as with a wide range of other colleagues at the museum. You will also communicate with the artist or production team on the artist hospitality needs and organize the hospitality accordingly. You will additionally assist the senior producer with various administrative tasks and procedures.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Reconcile hospitality and other miscellaneous expenses after production.
  • Communicate with artists on arrival instructions, safety guidelines and museum protocols.
  • Serve as Live Arts liaison during rehearsals in galleries and communicate artist needs to production management as needed.
  • Liaise with museum security to inform them of onsite artist visits
  • Coordinate on-site hospitality for artists including purchase, set-up and clean-up
  • Assist Senior Producer with a range of tasks including but not limited to generating/maintaining contact sheets, drafting and trafficking performance-related documents and coordinating meetings.
  • Other administrative needs as requested.
  • Communicate with artists and production team on hospitality needs as requested.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Sensitivity to artist needs.
  • Able to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Able to handle sensitive information.
  • Prior experience in the performing arts.
  • Proficiency in Google Docs and sheets
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Prior experience in public-facing environment.
  • Able to maintain a positive and proactive approach in a fast-paced work environment.
COMPENSATION RATE:
  • The advertised pay scale reflects the good faith minimum and maximum salary range for this role. The advertised pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage for any specific employee. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, education, special licensing or qualifications, and other factors.
  • Pay Rate : $24.00/Hourly
Location Requirements
At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
