Job Description
The arts enrollment counselor will support the Admissions Office and the School of Art & Design (NYSCC) + Performing Arts Division with all phases of the enrollment process at the undergraduate and graduate levels.


Essential Functions


  • Candidates must be goal oriented, able to work independently with limited supervision, able to work in a team setting.
  • A valid automobile driver's license is required with the ability to travel independently.
  • Candidates should have strong organizational skills and be able to understand and use technology (e.g., Microsoft Office, social media and email).
  • Detail-oriented focus with the ability to take initiative, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks with little supervision.
  • Strong commitment to working with college students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Candidates should have excellent communication skills and feel comfortable/confident speaking in large/small groups and with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience using Slate, and/or other higher education systems or software effectively.
  • Flexibility to work on weekends, evenings, and overnight stays is required.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, student-centered environment.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, particularly in matters relative to sensitive or confidential student records, personnel or organizational matters.
  • Ability to work weekends, extended workdays, and/or overnight travel, as required.


Other Duties & Responsibilities


  • Manage the awarding of art specific awards and scholarships. Including the Miller Portfolio Funds, per portfolio review process.
  • Maintain membership status with National Portfolio Day Association and manage recruitment within NPDA events.
  • Process applications including portfolio reviews using SlideRoom and current portfolio software. This includes facilitating the review process with a Portfolio Review Committee made up of six faculty members, in collaboration with the Assistant Dean of the School of Art & Design.
  • Perform recruitment travel. Responsibilities include attending college fairs, portfolio days, performing high school recruitment visits, and coordinating off-campus recruitment events.
  • Review and analyze data from CRM SLATE software to meet recruitment goals.
  • Serve as a liaison to the School of Art & Design & Performing Arts Division
  • Maintains a safe working environment within and around their facilities and associated equipment and supplies including, but not limited to, obtaining Safety Data Sheet (SDS) information pertaining to any hazards associated with their work environment.
  • Responsible for supporting efforts in meeting established recruitment goals for the arts Responsible for meeting established recruitment goals and providing analysis of the job (e.g., statistical reports).
  • Assist students and families with all aspects of the enrollment process to the University (e.g., college selection process, application review, and financial aid). Communication with prospective students via telephone, email, text and written correspondence is expected.
  • Participate in training workshops, staff retreats, and professional conferences.
  • Attend and assist with recruitment events (e.g., open houses).
  • Conduct interviews and group information sessions (on-and-off campus).
  • Collaborate with visit and events coordinator on arts specific events, tours, daily visits and virtual experiences for prospective students.
  • Stay current with Arts curriculum, course offerings, facilities updates, faculty status and work, visiting artists and exhibitions. Attend arts events and openings on and off campus is encouraged.
  • Collaborate with Arts Marketing / Communications Coordinator on targeted social media, print publications, Deans and others' e-mail correspondences, and other touch points for prospective students.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Dean for the School of Art & Design and Performing Arts Division to maintain relationships with K-12 and NCECA. Continue to foster and develop partnerships with: NYSATA, Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, NAEA, and others.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree BFA (visual arts) required, Master's Degree in higher education or arts or related field preferred.
  • The successful candidate will have at least three years' experience in a collegiate admissions office or two years of admissions experience and other appropriate professional eduGational experience, preferably an Arts background.
