Job Description
As an Archaeological Laboratory Specialist (project consultant) for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will provide laboratory support for project teams navigating today’s complex environmental regulatory landscape, helping our commercial, institutional, and energy clients with Cultural Resource compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. You will assist with both historic and prehistoric artifact processing, analysis, and curation; lab work will include managing equipment needs, following CEC policies and state guidelines, attending project and department meetings, utilizing technical and analytical skills to identify and analyze artifacts, recording and photographing artifacts, creating artifact catalogues, writing methodologies and analyses of findings, assisting with cultural site interpretations, and preparing artifacts for curation. CEC is currently developing our own lab space, allowing this position the opportunity to help guide and shape how the lab space and its operating procedures will be organized. This position would work primarily from the Indianapolis office, though fieldwork is available if the applicant desires. Additionally, CEC is looking to fill this job posting as a full-time position, but there is flexibility in hiring a desirable candidate on an as needed or part-time basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ laboratory experience with Midwest prehistoric and historic artifacts;
