Job Description
The Apprentice Operating Engineer is a four year training program that combines college-level course work with on-the-job training to develop the knowledge and skills to become a licensed journeyman operating engineer. This program is registered with the Oregon State Bureau of Labor & Industries.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Note: All duties listed below must be performed in the presence and under the guidance of a Journeyman Operating Engineer.
  • Responds to and resolves emergency maintenance calls. Performs corrective maintenance as required.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on plant equipment, physical structure and associated equipment including, but not limited to, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire & life safety systems.
  • Responds to routine service requests and performs work required.
  • Utilizes CMMS to properly document all maintenance & repair work performed.
  • Assists with coordination of contractors and service providers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

License, Certification, Registration
  • Must possess a valid driver's license at time of hire/transfer.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Some experience in maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment and/or systems.
  • Able to demonstrate proficiencies in the use of basic hand and hand-held power tools.
  • Should be mechanically inclined.
