Satin Stitches is hiring a part-time Apparel Production Assistant intern for our busy season, August – January 31st
Satin Stitches (est.1978) is a small Minneapolis based apparel manufacturer specializing in custom costuming for dance and cheer teams, show choirs, and other performance groups nationwide. We are in an exciting phase of re-growth after new ownership, re-branding, and rebounding from the pandemic. We are looking for a candidate with a foundational understanding of how apparel is made, and we are willing to train on our production equipment. This internship opportunity has potential to turn into a permanent position, especially if the candidate has a keen eye for design and Adobe Illustrator capabilities.
Direct Responsibilities:
- Operate ultrasonic rhinestone machine
- Inspecting finished garments
- Operate cutting machine for prototyping and production
- Pinning appliques for sewing
- Shipping & receiving
- Operate heat press for heat transfer appliques and rhinestone application
- Tally production sheets
- Organizing production materials
- Calculate fabric yield and material costs
Qualifications and Skills:
- Ability to lift large rolls of fabric
- Knowledge of fashion design, or current student in fashion/apparel program
- General understanding of sewing construction techniques & efficient methods for production
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- General patternmaking knowledge
- Keen eye for design (particularly important for freehand rhinestone placement)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other basic computer programs
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently
- Bonus: Dance costuming experience and/or dance industry knowledge
- Bonus: Adobe Photoshop and illustrator capabilities
Internship runs from August – January 31st.
Approximately 16 hours/week (flexible schedule)
$15-17/hr, depending on experience
