Primary Purpose of Organization Unit
The faculty of the McKenzie-Elliott School of Nursing have a commitment to the tripartite roles of teaching, scholarship, and service. The School of Nursing is devoted to meeting the health care needs of south central North Carolina, particularly those of underrepresented populations. This position will report to the Chair of School of Nursing.

Primary Purpose of Position
The professorship will enhance the ability to address the nursing and health care needs of the state and region, with particular attention to marginal, minority African American and American Indian populations, including Lumbee Indians within the university’s service region in southeastern North Carolina. The position is a full-time, non-tenure, track appointment for a period of up to 5 years; appointment may be renewable upon successful review for reappointment. Starting date: Fall 2023

Reporting directly to the Chair of School of Nursing, the Anne R. Belk Endowed Professorship requires participation in professional and departmental including teaching, scholarship, and service – for positive performance evaluations. The individual in this position will participate in teaching 6 credits each semester in the undergraduate and/or graduate nursing programs, establishing and/or sustaining an extramurally funded research program, and assuming a leadership role in the delivery of community service activities related to advancing the practice of nursing and population-based innovations for improving the health of the population and quality of life within the region. Other responsibilities include ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum; student advisement, recruitment, and retention activities; and participation in program and university activities that benefit School of Nursing, College of Health Sciences, and the University.
