Your Role

Analytical Lab Supervisor

Purpose

  • Reporting to the Analytical Laboratory General Foreperson, the incumbent will be responsible for supervising assigned crew employees to safely execute laboratory tasks.

Essential Duties

  • Visible felt leadership – spend ~90% on the field interacting with team.
  • Lead daily pre-start meetings
  • Work with Analytical Lab General Foreperson to manage performance issues when necessary. Develop and coach employees in order to retain and grow organizational talent. Support employees in their career development, and create and sustain an inclusion environment.
  • Supervise day-to-day safe operation of the Analytical Lab with a focus on quality, and equipment health.
  • Motivate, coach, develop direct reports to safely achieve business targets.
  • Monitor work in progress and completed work, and implement changes as needed
  • Ensure adherence to Newmont values, policies and procedures
  • Environmental compliance in and around the Analytical Lab.
  • Safety and housekeeping in and around the Analytical Lab.
  • Motivate and coach employees to improve morale.
  • Fill in for Analytical Lab General Foreperson as needed.
  • Ensure assays are conducted in a safe and efficient manner by orientating and training
  • Adequate communication with on-coming crew and Supervisor
  • On-time reporting of all personnel and lab related issues to Analytical Lab Manager. Assist in Safety and Environmental State and Compliance Inspections. Facilitate staff and safety meetings. Ensure line-of-progression is determined and acted upon. Ensure training at all levels is being performed.

Training & Experience

  • Experience should include at least 5 years of laboratory experience in the analysis of gold ores (previous supervisor/relief experience preferred) and development of new analytical methods and implementation of analytical QA/QC programs.
  • Proficient computer literacy, including Lab Management Systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others and initiate change that yields positive results in terms of safety, assay quality, production and cost management in Laboratory settings.
  • Advanced Degree in Chemistry or related field preferred, or High School diploma with experience in lab environment and leading people.

The salary range offered for this role is $84,745-104,685. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
