- Writes text for reports, methods and, or protocols in established format
- Recognizes deviations from normal results and informs Study Director, Principal Investigator, and/or management of any problems/deviations that may affect the integrity of the data and participates in corrective action of problems.
- Work on multiple developmental projects and routine assays simultaneously while balancing short and long-term priorities.
- Identifies problems, determines appropriate actions, and implements solutions with support or independently as appropriate.

- Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner.
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Provides input and participates in project meetings.
- Organizes and conducts routine analyses independently and collaboratively, in compliance with applicable methods, protocols, SOPs and regulatory agency guidelines.
- Documents work in a clear, concise manner according to laboratory standards.
- Provides excellent communication in both written and oral data presentation.
- Able to identify critical steps in an assay.
- Contributes to a cohesive team environment and maintains a positive attitude.
- Trains and assists junior staff
- Travel both domestic and international up to 20% of time, possibility more travel based on client's needs.
- Completes all required training courses by deadlines.
- Knowledge of departmental procedures and policies
- May assist in optimizing and validating methods for a variety of matrices
- Maintains a clean and safe laboratory work environment and utilizes proper PPE.
- Able to adapt to new procedures or particular needs as directed.
- Plans, implements and documents scientific experiments with limited supervision.
- Uses analytical tools for troubleshooting food processes and quantifying analytes in food.
- Will be exposed to food allergens (ex. Milk, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish, etc.)
- Plans individual workload in coordination with team members and management.
- Work requires >75% of time in the lab.
- Experienced with computers and multiple software programs used to manage experiments, data, report design and instrumental data collection.
- Knowledge of analytical techniques for near-line process supports and routine samples that includes sugar, color, moisture, water activity, density, brix, pH, fat, acidity, sodium and salt.
- Knowledgeable in MS Office.
- Ability to plan, implement and document scientific experiments with limited supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, food science or relevant field with minimum of 6 months of experience.
- Effective collaboration with peers, management, scientists, product designers and business leaders.
- An ability to recognize and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation will be important.
- Hands-on experience with pH meter, balance, NIR, YSI, Computrac, Hunter Color, and Laboratory Information Management System is a plus.
Additional Information
Position is Full Time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.., with additional hours, as needed. Candidates currently living in a commutable distance to Battle Creek, MI are encourage to apply. Shift differential will be added to base salary.
