Job Description

Job Purpose

The Underwriting Analyst, Build to Rent will be responsible for assisting the deal team with accumulating information for loan processing, ordering reports for use in the due diligence process, preparing the credit memorandums for submission to the credit committee, and assembling complete loan files for examination by the underwriter. The Underwriting Analyst, BTR also responsible for assisting the Single Family Rental Underwriting team with the analysis and evaluation of potential structured products.


Essential Job Functions (Duties/Responsibilities)

The Underwriting Analyst, Build to Rent will have the following duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Interface with credit, portfolio, operations and product specialist personnel, as required, to facilitate the underwriting, closing, and transition of prospects to portfolio management
  • Completing financial and credit reviews
  • Gathering information for supply and demand analysis
  • Tracking loan applications
  • Communicating with other Arbor departments in the coordination of underwriting, closing, and managing structured loans
  • Review and analyze financial statements, tax returns and cash flow statements of borrowers and guarantors
  • Assisting underwriters in the completion of analytical spreadsheets and underwriting narratives in preparation for loan committee.
  • Perform on-site due diligence through property inspections
  • Review of development budgets, project timelines, construction drawings/plans and construction contracts
  • Engage outside parties for collateral reviews, appraisals, background checks, and accounting due diligence, as necessary
  • Reviewing all application documentation and property information
  • Managing company loan files


Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance or a related discipline


Experience: Minimum of one to two years of experience in Single Family Rental/BTR Financing or Real estate finance or related field; previous experience in risk/financial analysis, valuations, relationship management, workouts, capital markets and rehabilitation are a plus.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent financial, analytical, communication, project management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Loan processing/analysis or other loan origination experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical to success
  • The qualified candidate will be hard-working, a quick learner, detail-oriented, well-organized and able to work alone as well as with others to reach a common goal
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; and proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, and Word.
  • Possess a working knowledge of PC/desktop software applications and analytical programs.

Arbor Realty Trust, Inc. offers a competitive base salary and discretionary bonus. The annual base salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000. The specific compensation that will be offered is based on an understanding of the hired candidates' qualifications at the time of hire. Employees are eligible for a discretionary bonus based on employee work performance reviewed during the course of the year. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
