Job Description
Description:

Vanguard Skin Specialists is a growing multi-specialty practice with eight locations throughout southern Colorado. We seek a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our team. This is an opportunity for an exceptional candidate to transition from primary care into dermatology.

The Opportunity

Vanguard is a growing multi-specialty practice including dermatology, dermatopathology, Mohs surgery, plastic surgery and aesthetics. You will be joining a practice with a strong reputation for quality patient care and a great work environment. Vanguard is proudly rated one of the best places to work in Colorado Springs (Gazette) and Colorado (Denver Post).
This position is designed for PAs and NPs who have practiced primary care for at least four years. This is a paid preceptorship in dermatology with our team of physicians. You will spend 18 to 24 months learning medical dermatology in a private practice setting. Upon successful completion, you transition fully onto our dermatology provider team.

Transition to Dermatology

The training will take place over a two-year time period, although exceptional candidates may progress at a faster rate.
The first six months will be learning the basics and seeing patients alongside teaching physicians. This phase also includes mastering all MA clinical tasks. That will be a critical skill in order to train and lead your future team of MAs. The next six months will be seeing patients with a high degree of supervision. The second year will be gradually expanding scope of practice for dermatology conditions, under the supervision of a dermatologist.
At the end of 18-24 months, the expectation is for the candidate to remain as a member of our dermatology provider team. This is a position for medical dermatology; it does not include aesthetic medicine or plastic surgery.
