Job Summary

The Aircraft Maintenance Planner invests in the future of Southwest’s People in their work creating aircraft work packages for Southwest’s Mechanics. This role works collaboratively with Teams throughout Technical Operations (Tech Ops), including Planning Operations/ACFT Routing, Engineering, Production, Outsource Maintenance, and Production Control Groups, to build applicable maintenance work orders for their assigned aircraft or stations. The Aircraft Maintenance Planner is excited to b r ing their analytical mindset and problem-solving skills to this important Team in Tech Ops, where they can drive their own career with Heart and the future of Maintenance at Southwest.

Responsibilities
Plan and construct work orders for intermediate and substantial maintenance, such as heavy maintenance checks, Special Visits and Drop In Visits
Construct the applicable work orders effectively to ensure all tasks are planned during the most appropriate maintenance visit
Monitor emerging maintenance requirements during the maintenance visit ground time and correctly incorporate or remove applicable tasks prior to aircraft departure
Review and evaluate open discrepancies and Deferred Maintenance Items and incorporate correctly in intermediate and heavy maintenance, Special Visits and Drop In aircraft work orders at the most appropriate opportunity
Review open Line and HNGR RON work orders and correctly incorporate into intermediate and heavy maintenance work orders
Integration of Line and HNGR RON work orders must take into account harmonization of required maintenance to ensure minimal impact of maintenance routing on flight operations
Represent Aircraft Maintenance Planning in heavy maintenance Pre and Post dock meetings to ensure all inquiries from Production Control are answered and addressed correctly
Coordinate with Fleet Controllers, Planning Operations, Engineering, Production, Outsource Maintenance and Production Control groups when building the applicable maintenance work orders to ensure correct and timely planning of required maintenance
Plan correctly and before the due date Line and HNGR overnight (RON) maintenance tasks as directed by the Employee's Leader
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge and understanding of aircraft technical documents and publications, such as, but not limited to Engineering Orders, Maintenance Programs task cards and aircraft manuals
Knowledge of aircraft systems and maintenance planning processes
Skilled in Microsoft Suite computer software, MXI and other computerized aircraft maintenance forecasting systems
Skilled in reviewing and understanding aircraft technical documents and publications, such as, but not limited to Engineering Orders, Maintenance Programs task cards and aircraft manuals
Skilled in organization to handle multiple priorities, effective time management and prioritization of tasks
Skilled in oral and written communication
Ability to communicate effectively with other Teams regarding Maintenance Planning systems
Ability to manage time effectively during fast changing environment
Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Intermediate level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in:
Aircraft Maintenance Planning, Production Control, or other related Maintenance/Technical Operations roles
Preferred: Aviation background and p roject management skills

Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be willing to work shifts, weekends and holidays if required
Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $88,550 per year to $98,400 per year* depending on qualifications and experience, with opportunity for future pay increases based on performance and market movement. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
