Job Description

The Aircraft Crew Chief reports to the Operations Supervisor and is responsible for the efficient execution of the work scope and for the maintenance, preventive maintenance, and alterations performed under the authority of the FAA Certificated Repair Station. The Aircraft Crew Chief performs tasks and ensures tasks, within the scope of their normally assigned duites are performed using established standards f quality and airworthiness.

  • Supervises the daily activities of assigned work crews taking necessary action to insure that all work is completed within schedule and estimated labor and material costs.
  • Contributes to the annual training needs assessment exercise required by the Repair Station Training Program.
  • Ensures that personnel assigned to perform tasks are qualified to perform the task and identifies training requirements.
  • Ensures that aircraft maintenance paperwork and forms are completed in accordance with methods of execution outlined in the RSQCM.
  • Maintains a focus on Human Factors in the workplace and drives to zero defects in workmanship and safety. Supports the Quality Issues Notification system.
  • Ensures that crews maintain good housekeeping practices by utilizing a 5S system of ?sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain. Takes immediate action to maintain a clean safe environment.
  • Collaborates with the assigned Customer Projects manager for Work Order Squawk Form approval and authorization for overtime.
  • Provides for the shift turnover requirements as outlined in the RSQCM and establishes assignments to relieving crews.
  • Assigns maintenance technicians on crews and from support shops to perform the tasks required by the work scope and monitors performance to plan. Assigns QC Inspector to perform inspection of work performed.
  • Supports the corporate mission and vision through achievement of department goals and objectives, contributes to process improvement and the development of strategies that improve customer service and the maintenance process.
  • Collaborates and cooperates with the assigned Customer Project Manager to achieve the on time and on budget objectives of the work scope.
  • Ensures that assigned crews follow adequate safety precautions and procedures, inspect equipment to ensure it meets company safety and OSHA standards.
  • Ensures the use of applicable technical data, including but not limited to, the methods, techniques and practices prescribed in the current manufacturer?s maintenance manual.
  • Observes and administers company rules and regulations and safety policy and standard operating procedures.
  • Drives the team for maximum efficiency and effective use of available resources including assignment of overtime as required and authorized and accurately charging labor hours to the appropriate Work Order Squawk Form.
  • Supervise a continuous safety program in their area of responsibility, including operation of support equipment, aircraft systems, housekeeping and hazardous materials.
  • Effectively teams with the Customer Projects Manager and Quality Assurance Inspector assigned to the aircraft to efficiently execute the aircraft work scope and communicates at all levels of the organization and with customers.
  • Collaborates and cooperates with the assigned QA Inspector to achieve aircraft approval for return to service.
  • Monitors all work performed by the crew to ensure that all work accomplished meets quality standards and is airworthy.
  • Attends the customer debrief for all aircraft assigned.
  • Promotes and fosters an environment that provides the team with opportunities to succeed. Contributes to the annual performance evaluation of personnel assigned under their leadership. Monitors and documents employee performance throughout the performance period.
  • Assigns the tasks as required by the work scope with efficiency and to quality standards, paying particular attention to appropriately assigning tasks to the QC Inspectors.
  • Drives daily activities toward providing services and deliverables to the customer that meet and exceed customer satisfaction expectations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or CPM.
