Job Description
The Shady Grove Family YMCA is currently seeking a part time positive role model to build relationships, plan, and coordinate our Active Older Adults Program! The Aging Strong Coordinator will develop, plan and carry out activities for senior adults in the areas of wellness and social events, including activities in the Y's community based senior fitness program, The Aging Strong Program. This part time position starts at $15.00 per hour.
DUTIES of an Aging Strong Coordinator
  • Assist in the development of associated budget. Manage department expenditures within allotted budget.
  • Promote, foster and support the Y's commitment to access, inclusion and engagement for all by engaging diverse populations in a welcoming environment.
  • Attend, as needed, leadership team meeting or advisory council meetings.
  • Ability to deal positively and professionally with program participants and staff.
  • Advertise events and programs. Maintain program bulletin board and contribute to association newsletters.
  • Duties include but are not limited to the setup of rooms, maintenance of program paperwork and the purchase of supplies.
QUALIFICATIONS Of An Aging Strong Coordinator
Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Must have strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse groups of individuals. Ability to stand for long periods of time and sufficient strength to lift and carry 25lbs. Must be able to set equipment and the room as needed for related programs. Candidates must have at least two years relevant work experience (preferably with older adults and youth and family) and current CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.
