The Aging Community Specialist will work in coordination with the Area Plan and perform a variety of task that support the operations of the Area Agency on Aging. This position plays a key role in community engagement, wellness activities and quality assurance. This person assists with other appropriate program tasks as required. An employee in this class works simultaneously in the programmatic, fiscal, and planning functions of the Area Agency on Aging (AAA). Multi-tasking and working with others are mandatory for this position. Clear communication with PTRC AAA team members, service providers, and older adults and their families, is key to the successful implementation and development of the programs and services administered by the PTRC Area Agency on Aging. Work is performed under the supervision of the Assistant Aging Director and is primarily evaluated by attainment of programmatic goals set forth in the Area Plan and AAA Administration regulations.

Aging Community Specialist

Quality Assurance, Assist in providing technical assistance and training to service providers to help them maneuver and understand the Aging Resource Management System (ARMS), a web-based data system, on an individual and group basis via the telephone, email, virtual trainings, and face-to-face education. This assistance includes the clarification of service standards, awareness of acceptable accounting practices with funding administered through the PTRC AAA, the sharing of best practices, and fulfilling other detailed inquiries related to program standards and program delivery, Assist with ARMS data, Assemble data from the ARMS system for internal and external reports reflecting fiscal and programmatic standings as needed, Assists quality assurance team by reviewing and checking service provider cost computation and budget forms, Assists quality assurance team by reviewing, analyzing and monitoring service provision and Prepare regional reports which are submitted to the North Carolina Division of Aging & Adult Services, and other entities as required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Health and Wellness Promoter, Staff health fairs and share pertinent information with the community, Train in and lead evidence-based workshops, Link consumers to services through care coordination , Occasionally schedule open visits to assess home environment and identify any environment or safety concerns and make appropriate referrals, Participates in other functions and activities of the AAA department as required, Assist care teams and projects working to address Social Determinants of Health and Facilitates communication between all parties (clients, families, colleagues, and community-based organizations, healthcare) as needed and serves as a point of contact for clients and their families.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates initiative and communication skills, Ability to act quickly and rationally under pressure, Willingness to take initiative, originate action, and be responsible for consequent decisions, Ability to work in a team, Ability to work independently and efficiently, Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize work accordingly, Ability to organize work and exercise independent judgment with minimal supervision, Ability to exercise tact and courtesy, Ability to maintain confidentiality, Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Must possess skills to understand and interpret detailed information, Ability to maintain professional composure and work with diverse groups and to establish and sustain effective working relationships, Ability to facilitate, discuss and deliver complex information, Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, Maintain confidentiality of consumer and client information and other sensitive matters.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of balancing, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, feeling, talking, and hearing, Must be able to perform sedentary work and exert up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally, Must possess the visual acuity to perform extensive reading, administrative and computer work, Must be able to talk and hear in order to be able to respond to the public and other employees.

Education and Experience: An Associate or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college with a degree in business administration, human services or other closely related field with a minimum of two (2) years of experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Candidate should have experience using the Microsoft Office Suite.

SALARY RANGE: Salary $41,308.47 DOQ. Organization provides excellent benefits including NC Local Governmental Employees Retirement System (NCLGERS).
