The Contra Costa Health Department is recruiting for one (1) qualified individual interested in the Advice Nurse Supervisor position assigned to the Contra Costa Health Plan (CCHP) located in Martinez, CA.

The Advice Nurse Supervisor will be responsible for assisting the day-to-day management of the Advice Nurse Unit by planning and coordinating staff, developing and revising policies and procedures, assisting with the daily work schedule and forecasting to ensure that 24/7 staffing needs are met, planning and directing the work of subordinate staff, and performing monthly quality management audits.

The Advice Nurse Supervisor must be available to work evening, night, and weekend shifts on a rotating schedule. Eligible candidates who successfully pass the County language fluency examination may receive a monthly bilingual differential depending upon assignment.

Contra Costa Health Plan (CCHP) has been serving county residents with their health needs for over 40 years and was the first Federally qualified, State licensed, County-sponsored Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) in the United States. Also, Contra Costa Health Plan (CCHP) became the first County-sponsored health plan in California to offer Medi-Cal Managed Care coverage.

  • Assisting in answering calls in the Advice Nurse unit to maintain a low incoming call volume.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months.

Minimum Qualifications

**PLEASE BE SURE TO ATTACH PROOF OF YOUR LICENSE TO YOUR APPLICATION.**

License Required: Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of California.

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Either 1) three (3) years of full-time or its equivalent experience as a telephone triage Registered Nurse; OR 2) three (3) years of experience as a Registered Nurse in one of the following areas of an acute care hospital: medical surgical unit, labor and delivery unit, post partum unit, pediatric unit, intensive or critical care unit, emergency department; Or a Registered Nurse in a surgery center or urgent care facility; Or a Registered Nurse in a maternal child health, home health, public health setting, or in nursing case management; AND at least one (1) year of the required experience must have been in either an advice nurse unit or in a lead or supervisory role.

Substitution for Education: Two (2) additional years of qualifying experience noted above may be substituted for the required Bachelor's degree.

Special Requirement: As a condition of employment all applicants must either possess a Telephone Nursing Practice certificate issued by the National Certification Corporation, OR successfully pass the Telephone Triage examination administered by the Contra Costa Health Plan within six (6) months of employment.

Desirable Qualifications: Experience supervising or coordinating schedules for a 24/7 nursing unit.
