Position Summary:
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) acts as part of the clinical team. The responsibilities may include history review, health education, physical exam and diagnosis.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in all mandatory compliance and other training programs, seeks guidance for compliance-related concerns and adheres to all applicable laws, regulations and MSBP policies and procedures.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs. Orders additional laboratory investigations when indicated and ensures appropriate follow-up.
- Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of both external and internal customers, acts with patients in mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with patients and gains their trust and respect.
- Performs physical examinations and preventive health measures within prescribed guidelines and instructions of physician to patients in the home setting.
- Discusses case with physician and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plan.
- Can effectively cope with change and uncertainty and respond and “shift gears” comfortably.
- The physician will be accessible to the ARNP either in person or telephonically for consultation and general supervision of acute, chronic, or life-threatening conditions.
- Uses logical methods to solve problems with effective solutions; is proficient at honest analysis, looks beyond the obvious for solutions.
- Cares about people; is available and ready to help; demonstrates empathy.
- Collaborates, consults, and coordinates with other health care organizations and refers patients appropriately to resources for additional care as needed.
- Practices attentive and active listening; has the patience to hear people out; can accurately restate the opinions of others even when he/she disagrees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Records physical findings, and formulates plan and prognosis, based on patient's condition.
- Compliant with OSHA, CLIA, State Board of Nursing and Federal DEA Board of regulations.
- Provides prescriptions and administers medications.
- Using clinical judgment to initiate emergency treatments per office protocol while consulting with appropriate physician in person or telephonically.
- Submits health care plan and goals of individual patients for periodic review and evaluation by physician.
- Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to competently perform all aspects of the job.
- Current APRN licensure in state of Florida.
- Knowledge of CPT codes, ICD 10 and Athena
- Master’s Degree required OR commensurate experience and satisfactory completion of APRN licensure.
- Required to submit proof of required CMEs to retain state licensure.
- Responsible to submit ARNP Protocols as required by the State of Florida.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret business related documents.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Ability to provide evidence of malpractice insurance coverage from beginning of practice to current.
- Must be able to create/edit documents in word processing and enter data in spreadsheet programs.
- Effective written communication skills including, but not limited to writing reports and correspondence.
- Minimum 3 years practicing experience as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
- Effective verbal communication skills including but not limited to speaking effectively to patients, providers, families, and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
Physical Demands: Must be able to walk, stand and sit intermittently. Upon occasions be able to assist in properly moving a patient. Be able to lift up to 30 pounds. May need to push or pull medical equipment. May have to stoop, bend knees and/or reach. Must be able to use the keyboard on a computer. Phone work required.
Personal Qualities: Develops and maintains good relationships with co-workers. Demonstrates good judgment when dealing with sensitive issues. Handles interruptions and unpredictable situations. Must demonstrate good judgment regarding confidentiality policy. Supports organizational and department goals. Contributes important information. Dresses appropriately for position.
