Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Per Diem Advanced Practice Nurse for the Family Medicine & Community Health department at Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Working collaboratively with a physician and under the clinical supervision of the Medical Directors, the Advanced Practice Nurse ( APN ) provides medical evaluations and ongoing medication treatment to patients. The specific protocols of treatment are worked out by the APN and the collaborating physician through a practice agreement. The APN provides consultation to clinical staff regarding patient care issues, and may also provide formal in-service education and training to other employees. Participates in a collegial relationship with the physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals. Performs in an expanded nursing role and has responsibility for meeting the needs of a determined number of patients using a primary care model. The APN may work in multiple programs and different sites on different days. This position requires a high level of professional responsibility, medical judgment, and ability to take personal initiative while working as part of a team.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:

• Documents all aspects of patient care in EMR system.
• Informs and instructs patients/significant others on patient’s health/illness state and plan of care.
• Is knowledgeable of and initiates emergency procedures.
• Participates in data collection related to the Hospitalist patients’ status and needs.
• Provides direct patient care within scope of practice to ensure implementation of the plan of care.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience

• At least two (2) years of related nursing experience preferably as an advanced practice nurse

Certifications/Licenses

• Certified as either Clinical Nurse Specialist or a Nurse Practitioner in the State of New Jersey.
• Maintain current CPR for healthcare provider certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrated experience in treating a diverse patient population.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
