Job Description

Summary

This role will plan and lead the day-to-day execution and technical support for the introduction of processes for new product development and existing manufacturing. The AME team member (Advanced Manufacturing Engineer) is recognized as a key manufacturing technology leader within their organization and provides technical leadership for the production team. The successful candidate will support and lead efforts to consistently improve product and process quality. They will interface with global counterparts to achieve program goals and integrate global activities when necessary. Responsibilities include creating/providing documentation and floor support associated with safety, manufacturing and quality methods, tooling, and equipment. They will aggressively initiate new processes and methods that will improve safety, reduce product cost and/or improve product quality. This role may also participate in or lead new product introductions into manufacturing from engineering or transfers between manufacturing sites for co-manufacturing initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities may also include Automated Test Equipment (ATE) troubleshooting and software/hardware deployment and validation.
  • Initial primary responsibilities may include process improvements and/or troubleshooting of MRI magnets and system level electronics and test equipment.
  • Support compliance, as well as Environmental, Health & Safety efforts in support of site goals.
  • Define and control production processes including tooling and equipment.
  • Provide safe processes that comply with all local and federal regulations. Assure that corrective action is taken to resolve observed safety concerns in all areas.
  • Drive rigor in process capability assessment, process layout, tooling/equipment development and QMS Design Transfer execution.
  • Drive improved product quality by identifying manufacturing issues developing advanced manufacturing cost-effective solutions and overseeing successful implementation into production.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance through Qualification & Validation. Responsible for ensuring rigor in determining processes requiring validation, development of plans and analysis criteria, execution and final analysis and acceptance.
  • Develop new process and workstation designs to reduce cycle time and support lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Participate in early focus on manufacturability in NPI and/or Advanced Technology programs.
  • Work with a cross-functional team to identify and resolve manufacturing and quality challenges related to methods, processes, tooling, equipment, and product design.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Use prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
  • Assist with or lead NPIs and/or transfers, serving as the program manager for a given introduction/transfer program.
  • Validate design specifications and shop floor applications of new products, tools, or equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. Degree in Electrical, Systems, Mechanical, or Industrial
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Engineering or related technical degree and 5 years’ experience Or Associate Degree and 10 years’ experience in production, engineering, or troubleshooting.
  • Experience with troubleshooting, analytical and planning skills.

Desired Skills

  • 6-sigma DMAIC & DFSS certified.
  • Exposure and use of Lean methodologies.
  • Co-op or internship experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience working with global teams.
  • Demonstrated program or project management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience owning production processes / growing capability in yield and quality.
  • Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position.
  • Experienced developing tools and templates.
  • Experiences in process intensive manufacturing.
  • Product and process development experience.
  • Electronics troubleshooting, systems experience, electronics test and software experience a plus.
