Job Description
What to Expect

As a Test Engineer, you'll be expected to help transition Tesla’s Autopilot to full self-driving by developing & validating features including Autosteer, Navigate on Autopilot, Smart Summon, and more. This is a full-time position which requires someone highly organized and confident in their ability to manage projects along a very fluid schedule. This role also requires the flexibility of traveling (up to 50%) to various domestic and international destinations as necessary, to test vehicles on public roads and proving grounds.

What You’ll Do
  • Analyze issues detected during your tests and work closely with developers to root-cause and iterate on software changes
  • Generate test reports to document results and communicate issues to stakeholders
  • Develop in-house tooling and automation processes to increase the efficiency of data gathering and analysis
  • Work with internal engineering teams and external governing agencies to validate vehicle performance
  • Travel to proving grounds to perform closed-course in-vehicle testing and tuning
  • Support the whole development and validation process of Autopilot features (Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Support Systems, etc)
  • Leverage Tesla's vast telemetry pipeline to develop strict internal test procedures that go beyond the scope of existing ratings and homologation protocols
  • Design, fabricate, and utilize robotic test equipment and internal data acquisition systems
What You’ll Bring
  • Prior experience as test engineer in autonomous vehicle development
  • Excellent attention to detail and experience solving challenging test problems
  • Passion for testing and Tesla's mission
  • Flexibility of traveling to various domestic and international destinations with minimal lead-time
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineer, or proof of exceptional ability in related fields
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Strong driving ability to be able to maneuver prototype vehicles at (or over) their limits on closed courses
  • Strong proficiency with Git, C++, and Python
