Adult Literacy Coordinator Jobs

The Adult Literacy Coordinator will be responsible for aspects of the literacy program, primarily grant execution, outreach, program planning, tutor recruitment and training, and learner recruitment.

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility.

• Maintain database records for reporting purposes
• Conduct outreach and represent the Adult Literacy program at community events
• Recruit, train, and manage Literacy Tutors
• Report directly to the Assistant Library Director
• Seek and build relationships with community partners
• Other duties as assigned
• Maintain confidentiality and discretion of customer records, and follow all legal and policy requirements related to customer privacy and custodianship of records
• Know and understand the American Library Associations' Bill of Rights, Freedom to Read Statement and Freedom to View Statement, recognizing that freedom of access is a fundamental tenet of a public library
• Work closely with the Assistant Library Director, Library staff, and community partners and volunteers to plan, implement, and promote literacy activities and programs

Requirements

An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed

• Familiarity with adult learning methodologies
• Exhibit sensitivity and respect for all cultures
• Bilingual or multilingual skills desired
• Ability to build, maintain and strengthen community partnerships
• Experience with program planning
• A high degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

An individual should meet the required education and experience listed.

• Two years of library experience or other community services experience
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Experience working with diverse populations

We are hiring two part-time Adult Literacy Coordinators who will work as a team together with the Director and Assistant Director to develop a new program plan, build community partnerships and recruit volunteers and learners.
