Job Description
What You Will Do
The Associate Lab Director's office for Chemical, Earth, and Life Sciences (ALDCELS) of Los Alamos National Laboratory has an administrative student internship program to be managed at the ALDCELS level and will be administered within the three Divisions that comprise ALDCELS: Bioscience (B), Chemistry (C), and Earth and Environmental Sciences (EES). The divisions are home to ten capability-focused groups whose work spans the laboratory's major mission areas of stockpile stewardship, global security, and energy security.
This admin student pipeline is intended to train a student initially at the Division level to become familiar with the Division in which the student admin is initially deployed. After approximately six months, the selected student will be rotated to another Division within CELS, and then rotated to the third and final Division within CELS. During each six-month period, the student admin will work both at the Division level as well as the Groups within the Division, helping to form a well-rounded learning experience.
This program does not imply or guarantee that all students hired into the administrative student internship program will be selected to fill any advertised, permanent, or limited term administrative positions. The overall goal of the program is for the student to gain valuable experience and knowledge of LANLs administrative processes and procedures allowing them to compete for relevant positions both internal and external to ALDCELS.
Additionally, it is required that the ALDCELS student prospect will be available for work year-round, working full time during the summer months and at least 20 hours per week during the school year.
As an undergraduate administrative student, the selected interns will assist with various administrative needs to a wide variety of customers, who reside in various locations throughout the Lab footprint where the Division office, Group offices, staff offices, and laboratories are located. This job will consist of performing various administrative duties such as timekeeping, foreign, and domestic travel assistance for staff, calendar management for management, records management, and facility service requests.
