Job Description
Salary Range: $56.83 - $79.57 hourly


Job Summary


The Administrative Hearing Officer (AHO) sentences Municipal code violators in accordance with the Greeley Municipal Court (GMC), is the hearing office when violators plead non-liable, or the City Attorney's office has brought forth a Show Cause. The AHO is responsible for staying up to date on the current laws/GMC.


Experience, Knowledge, Skills


  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Licensed to practice law in Colorado.
  • Juris Doctorate.
  • Ability to quickly gain knowledge of Colorado Uniform Traffic Code, Greeley Charter and Code, Colorado Rules of Procedure and Colorado Municipal Court Rules.
  • Knowledge of municipal court systems.
  • Five years legal experience.


Essential Functions


  • Communicate diplomatically and effectively with other agencies and the public.
  • Communicate effectively and diplomatically (both orally and in writing) with co-workers, City Council, violators attorneys and the public.
  • Portray judicial temperament with respect to attentiveness, patience, impartiality, promptness, and courtesy.
  • Work closely and effectively with other departments, particularly those involved with the court.
  • Act with integrity, character, and conviction.
  • Make sound judgments and exhibit patience when dealing with stressful situations.
  • Execute abatement orders, preside over Code Enforcement hearings (Administrative Hearings), impose fees, determine indigence, hear reconsideration requests.


Work Environment And Physical Requirements


  • Communication skills to adequately convey information to defendants, attorneys, co-workers, and the public.
  • Vision enough to interpret written documents.
  • Work location is in courtroom and office environments, which may involve long periods of sitting.
