The Administrative Clerk position performs advanced and complex technical clerical duties requiring the exercise of considerable judgment and analysis. Requires thorough knowledge of departmental or company procedures and related work performed in other departments. Work is not usually subject to detailed verification. Answers telephones and/or other communications devices. Performs a variety of unstructured duties such as preparation of complex reports or complicated records requiring careful selection, classification or compilation of information from several sources. May require extensive preparation or involved calculations, complicated reconciliation and control functions, and preparation of special studies or summaries where analysis and examination of data are required. Duties may be varied or specialized, and include responsibility for training and assistance to other clerks of a lower classification.
Performs other duties which may be requested by authorized personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school graduate or equivalent with one (1) or more years of college, business, secretarial school (or equivalent) and three (3) or more years experience as a stenographer, lead or general clerk or similar office experience. Must meet the Company standard for typing, shorthand where required, writing skills and pass the applicable tests. Must be familiar with data entry and/or data processing or word processing equipment. Must be able to deal courteously and effectively with the general public and other employees in person and by telephone. All other general qualifications such as attendance punctuality, safety and performance will be considered.
Additional consideration will be given for the following job related training or experience:
1. Experience in the area of personnel, group insurance, labor relations, payroll, employee records or rate administration;
2. Experience or training in the use of calculators, CRT, personal computers, word processors and/or other data processing equipment and associated software;
3. Experience in the preparation and maintenance of complex files, reports, etc., and/or complicated records systems; and
4. Any other qualifications contributing to the applicant’s ability to perform the job.
