POSITION: Adjunct Faculty - Design
The EMU Visual & Communication Arts Programs seeks an individual to teach two 8-week sections of Foundations of Design (Digital) for 4-credit hours total. This portion of the course sequence includes digital design and is an introduction to Photoshop color theory, selections, layers and composition. Both sections meet for a half semester from Oct 23-Dec 15, 2023.
VACA 141 Foundations of DesignA: MW 11:20AM - 12:10PM, F 10:25AM - 11:15AM.
Course description: This foundational class for Visual and Communication Arts emphasizes visual skills and creative problem-solving related to principles of design in two-dimensional art. Students explore the elements of composition and color theory through hands-on studio work and digital design tools.
VACA 141 Foundations of Design B: MW 12:30PM - 1:20PM, F 11:50AM - 12:40PM
Position Summary
Adjunct Faculty are higher education instructors who are contracted on a term-by-term basis to teach an undergraduate course in face-to-face format. Course load not to exceed 17 semester hours per calendar year.
Qualifications
Education: Masters Degree or above in Art, Digital Design, or related field. Outstanding relevant professional experience may substitute for a graduate degree.
Experience: Teaching or training experience required. Experience with Photoshop required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Within the general range of an office environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES: To serve as an adjunct faculty member for the Visual & Communication Arts Programs, teaching two sections, this fall.
POSITION DETAILS: Faculty are contracted per course per semester. Salary determined by education.
APPOINTMENT DATE: Fall Semester begins August 29, 2023. EMU reserves the right to fill the position at any time or keep the position open.
