Job Description
Mitchell College is building on its long history of making liberal education more accessible by pioneering a flexible new approach: Our ability-based curriculum focuses on teaching adaptability through a core academic discipline, providing multiple opportunities for students to apply skills in learning and professional contexts. To keep this model vibrant and responsive to students’ interests, we are seeking part-time faculty with cross-disciplinary interests, both in our core curriculum and in our dynamic new concentrations of study.


College Writing @ Mitchell


The College Writing curriculum consists of three courses: CW101 (Introduction to College Writing), CWP101 (Introduction to College Writing plus Lab) and CW102 (College Writing and Research). CW101/CWP101 and CW102 are required courses for all students. These courses teach students the writing, reading, thinking and research skills necessary for success in college as well as in the workplace.


Required Education And Experience


  • A master’s degree (or higher) in composition, writing, English, journalism, or the teaching of writing
  • Experience working with students with learning differences is preferred
  • Experience teaching in higher education is preferred


Fall 2023 Details


We are currently hiring adjunct professors for CW101 and CW102 sections that meet for 80 class sessions, in person, on both Tuesdays and Fridays. The semester runs from 8/28 – 12/15. Classes are available at the 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. time slots. Professors teach a prepared curriculum and an LMS (Moodle) template is provided. Excellent candidates may be offered one, two or three sections of CW101 or CW102.
