Lees-McRae is a small, private, liberal arts college, located in the Appalachian region of the Southeastern United States. The college is at an exciting time of growth in its online presence and online learning has been identified as a priority initiative in our 2030 INEXPRO Strategic Plan. Currently, the college offers 4 undergraduate programs and 3 graduate program online. All online bachelor’s degrees are based on a 2+2 model and are designed to complete the last two years of the four-year degree. Online courses are offered during 16- and 8-week terms, depending on the program, and are asynchronous. Lees-McRae prides itself on small class sizes, highly qualified faculty with real-world experience, and an emphasis on experiential learning. Our motto for online programs is to be “in, of, and for your community.” As such, we prepare our graduates for successful and rewarding careers in which they can serve and elevate their own communities.
Summary/Objective
Lees-McRae College offers term-by-term, non-tenured teaching appointments to qualified individuals who are dedicated to providing quality educational experiences to students in distance learning bachelor’s and master's degree programs. This part-time position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals to work in a virtual, professional learning community wherein faculty contribute to and engage in instructional best practice for adult learners in an innovative, non-traditional university setting.
Courses: Micro Economics, Organizational Behavior
Essential Functions
- Provide an online learning environment that supports student success;
- Provide regular and substantive feedback to students;
- Remain current with trends, techniques, and advances in distance learning; and
- Attend college, departmental, and faculty meetings virtually as requested;
- Partner with the Program Director of ODL to address student concerns;
- Maintain two virtual office hours per week for each course;
- Teach synchronous and/or asynchronous classes (8- or 16-week units) as assigned by school or program;
- Deliver mid-term and final grades in accordance with the academic calendar;
- Perform additional duties as may be assigned.
- Initiate regular and substantive interaction with students;
- Ensure timely management and response to electronic correspondence from students, administrators, and other school officials;
- Maintain an active instructor presence in the course;
- Maintain and submit accurate and timely reports for student grades/progress;
- Enforce student conduct policies as outlined in the Academic Catalog and Student Handbook;

Required Education and Experience
- Exceptional computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and teleconferencing technology. Experience with Brightspace education software is preferred.
- 1-3 years' related teaching experience in online/distance learning at an institution of higher education.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
