Job Title: Acute Care Unit Manager - Nursing Manager/Director in Nome, Alaska
We are seeking a Nurse Manager with a diverse clinical background and strong leadership skills. Our Acute Care Unit is a low-acuity medical unit with no surgical capacity, with some psych and labor and delivery patients.
The ideal candidate must possess excellent communication and emotional intelligence skills and be culturally sensitive. Additionally, the applicant must be willing to put on scrubs as needed, as well as be proficient in scheduling and computer skills.
As a remote Alaskan location, Alaska is not a compact state, but the facility will accept a current and unencumbered license from any state, with an application for an AK license. The candidate must have a COVID vaccine with one booster and Flu vaccines.
We provide housing for our employees, but they may or may not have a roommate, and no pets are allowed.
Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Acute Care Unit, ensuring high-quality patient care
Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction
Hire, train, and evaluate nursing staff to maintain adequate staffing levels
Develop and manage the unit's budget
Collaborate with other healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care for patients
Maintain professional knowledge and competencies through continuing education and participation in professional organizations
Qualifications:
Active and unencumbered RN license from any state, with an application for an AK license
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a nurse leadership role, preferably in an acute care setting
Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and techniques
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to work effectively in a diverse cultural environment
