Job Description
Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, plans and implements creative outings, and social and recreational activities for residents in Oak Court and Terrace. Orders necessary supplies for those activities and maintains all work areas in a neat and orderly fashion.
Essential Functions
  • Maintains and purchases supplies and equipment and ensures they are available at the time activities are scheduled. Maintains and reports the Activity expenses within the approved annual budget on a monthly basis.
  • Plans and coordinates intergenerational and community programs, working with Marketing Department to develop community relationships on a quarterly basis.
  • Assess all residents; determines individual interests in physical, creative and spiritual needs.
  • Coordinates communications and updated information to the residents and families of Oak Court, the Terrace and assists with the clarifications of these materials.
  • Provides input relative to the needs, interests and abilities of residents; provides feedback to Supervisor based on current activities.
  • Observes resident’s behavior and responses to recreational activities such as willingness to participate, attitude, ability to follow instructions, and social behavior; reports observations to the therapy staff and supervisor verbally or by keeping simple records.
  • Provides in-service programs following educational developments to all pertinent staff members.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing appropriate programs on unit(s) for residents. Plans and coordinates outings and activities to enhance the monthly calendar of events for the residents of Oak Court, the Terrace, and Independent Living.
  • Motivates and assists residents to attend activities and offers positive reinforcement of the programs offered. Provides directions, instruction and demonstrations to individuals and groups in any resident activity. Provides staff and volunteers with directions and training as needed to assist in implementing programs and activities.
  • Plans and carries out decorations and ensures bulletin boards and other information sources are updated as needed. Prepares, sets-up equipment and supplies and cleans up after programs and areas.
Qualifications
  • Required High School Diploma
  • 2 years of relevant experience At least two (2) years of experience in activities or a related field, preferably in a geriatric setting. Required
