Job Description

Since 1976, CTI has evolved from a small construction testing and geotechnical engineering firm into a full-service contractor offering environmental, remediation and construction services to Federal, Industrial, and State/Local Government clients across the US. We have partnered with clients in 35 states to develop and execute projects with one purpose in mind: to help them solve the environmental challenges that stand in the way of achieving their business objectives.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist Controller and CFO in Tax planning throughout the year and assist in collection of data to supply to external accountants for annual corporate tax returns.
  • Coordinate with Accounting, Project Controls, Operations, and IT regarding the organization and electronic storage of all project related cost and billing data.
  • Coordinate with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of Accounting Department staff while maintaining open communication with employees and management.
  • Prepare journal entries covering all functions within the organization.
  • Evaluate current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal customers and provide assistance with issues they may encounter.
  • Comply with CAS/FAR, GAAP, DOE orders, prime contracts, etc.
  • Devise additional practices and procedures when necessary.
  • Authenticate and submit yearly 1099’s and issue W-9’s as requested.
  • Produce and reconcile various financial and regulatory reports required by laws, regulations, and for management analysis.
  • Coordinate with Project Controls Group regarding various detail project cost reports. Ensure all data is reconciled from the Project System to the General Ledger.
  • Audit and reconcile accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.


Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Accounting or a related field is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in government contracts is highly desirable.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of U.S. GAAP, principles of cost/benefit analysis and the laws and regulations that apply to government accounting practices.
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field


Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented
  • Proficiency with Office Suite and ERP Software preferably, Deltek Costpoint
