About the Position


Are you looking to further your accounting career? Lane County has an open Accountant position in the County Administration Operations, Financial Services Division. The purpose of this position is to support the Financial Reporting Supervisor in preparing financial documents, monitoring transactions, evaluating financial workpapers, and performing account reconciliations. The Accountant is a critical position in Financial Services and has the opportunity to enact positive change within the division. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, analytical, and have strong attention to detail.


About The Division


As part of the County Administration Department, the 14 FTE in the Financial Services Division perform functions related to accounting, financial reporting, investment of funds, cash management, debt management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll administration, and procurement. Financial Services is responsible for maintaining and reporting all financial transactions on an accurate and timely basis and preparing financial statements following Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). In addition, financial Services maintains effective accounting systems to control and report the receipt and disbursement of County and taxing districts funds and is responsible for receiving and recording all County expenditures and revenue obligations.


Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm

Qualifications


Training


  • Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a closely related field (all with major course work in accounting) from an accredited college or university.


Experience
  • Three years of increasingly responsible professional level accounting experience, preferably in the public sector environment. Experience with lead responsibility over a function or program is required.


An equivalent combination of experience and training that will demonstrate the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.


Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience developing and improving processes and systems.
  • Experience in reconciling account balances, researching discrepancies, and resolving issues.
  • Knowledge and experience in governmental fund accounting.
