Job Description

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the accounting functions of a venture capital firm, including financial statement preparation, general ledger maintenance, and budgeting. The successful candidate will possess excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the general ledger and ensure that all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other accounting principles.
  • Perform complex account reconciliations and analysis to ensure accuracy of financial data.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to streamline accounting processes and improve financial controls.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and reports for multiple funds and entities, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Collaborate with investment teams and portfolio companies to provide financial analysis and support.
  • Prepare and file tax returns and other regulatory filings.
  • Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and analysis for multiple funds and entities.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit process, including preparation of audit schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and reviewing audit reports.

Qualifications:

  • Detail-oriented and able to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with complex financial statements and fund structures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • 1-4 years of experience.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field. CPA preferred.
