Accountant Job Overview: Our environmental engineering client is seeking to add a new Accountant to their team. The Accountant?is responsible for the financial systems and practices for the company. To be successful in the role of Accountant, you must have great communication skills, knowledge of GAAP, be detail-oriented, and be proficient in QuickBooks.
This is a remote contract position, reporting to the President, with occasional travel between Iowa and Minnesota.
What you will be doing as an Accountant…

• Execute daily accounting responsibilities accurately such as billing, general ledger, account reconciliation, journal entries, and more
• Work with the financial team to learn the financial systems and practices that are currently in place to perform day-to-day tasks and then be able to teach that to new staff
• Evaluate the company's current financial processes and practices to identify enhancement opportunities and implement those improvements
• Facilitate seamless integration and efficient financial operations by fostering effective communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams
• Analyze and deliver timely and accurate financial reports to leadership, offering valuable insight to help with decision-making
• Ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements by acquiring a deep understanding of the current financial systems, policies, and procedures

Skills you ideally bring to the table as an Accountant…

• Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards, as well as being proficient with QuickBooks
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility as business changes
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities to be able to recognize process deficiencies, create solutions, and implement those changes
• Demonstrated expertise in mergers and acquisitions, as well as developing financial systems and processes for small businesses or start-ups is highly preferred.
• Strong communication skills to create strong relationships among stakeholders
