Accountant IV (D14D)


The Oklahoma Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) is a grant-making agency which serves as a partner and bridge builder for organizations working towards shaping a healthier future for all Oklahomans. TSET provides leadership at the intersections of health by working with coalitions and initiatives across the state, by cultivating innovative and life-changing research, and by working across public and private sectors to develop, support, implement and evaluate innovative, high-impact strategies to improve the public’s health.

Position Summary


Under the direction of the Director of Finance, the Accountant IV will be assigned responsibilities involving professional level work in the maintenance, analysis, interpretation and management of financial accounting data. This includes the preparation and posting of various journals, ledgers and accounts, analysis and presentation of financial data, and preparation of financial statements and expenditure reports, review and approval of various vouchers and invoices for payment, analyzing budget requirements, preparing payroll data, allocation of funds to various accounts or functions, preparing purchase orders and change orders, and other similar activities.


Accountant’s Duties Include


  • Classifies expenditures and posts to various accounts as required
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Reviewing and processing routine vouchers and invoices for payment
  • Acquire Certified Procurement Officer designation within first 6 months
  • Monitor cash balance and request transfers from Oklahoma State Treasurer
  • Assist in gathering and reviewing data for preparation of budget work programs
  • Reconcile agency monthly PCard transactions
  • Preparing routine or standardized accounting reports and financial statements
  • Maintain various ledgers, journals, registers, and other fiscal records
  • Performing reconciliations of simple accounting transactions
  • Maintain financial information
  • Creates requisitions, purchase orders and change orders in PeopleSoft
  • Perform regular financial reviews of grantees


Education And Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, management information systems, finance or a closely related field


AND


  • At least five years progressive accounting experience


OR


  • An equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of professional accounting experience for each year of the required degree.


Salary Range


$55,000 - $65,000/annually plus benefits

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and theories
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives and cultures
  • Knowledge of computer technology related to accounting systems
  • Ability to review and analyze financial information
  • Ability to handle confidential work with tact and discretion; and to triage and handle routine matters in accordance with agency policy
  • Knowledge of financial statements and reports
  • Knowledge of accounting ledgers and journals
  • Ability to maintain routine accounting data in appropriate ledgers and journals
  • Ability to prepare basic financial statements and reports
