Job Description
Department: Finance
Reports To: Director of Finance
FLSA Status: Exempt
Classification: C51
Location: City Hall
SUMMARY
Performs various accounting and finance tasks including management and reporting of financial data, preparing financial statements, examining, and analyzing accounts, account reconciliations, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with financial reporting and other standard account procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the Finance Director and Management Staff during the budget process.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of goals, policies, and priorities of the Finance Department.
  • Assists with grant reporting.
  • Prepares and maintains fixed asset records.
  • Assists with the coordination of the annual audit.
  • Prepares, reviews, and analyzes a variety of financial information, including bank reconciliations, audit schedules, general ledgers, grants, and other financial documents.
  • Maintains the City's petty cash.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • May assist other staff with special projects.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
The preferred way to obtain the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position are listed below. The city reserves the right to allow substitutions if a candidate or incumbent exceeds requirements in one area but may be deficient in another.
Required Education and Experience
  • 3-5 years of directly related experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • 3-5 years experience in municipal government finance department
Certifications, Licenses, and/or Designations
  • GFOA preferred.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards.
  • Skill in establishing cooperative and productive working relationships.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting and specialized accounting requirements for government entities.
  • Knowledge of budgetary policies and procedures.
  • Skill in preparing clear and accurate reports.
  • Knowledge of internal financial controls.
  • Skill in analyzing problems and identifying solutions.
  • Skill in performing mathematical calculations.
