Academic Tutor (Le) Jobs

This position performs a variety of tutoring duties depending on the department and assignment.

Education and Experience: Must be a current Linn Benton Community College student in good standing and have a high school diploma or equivalent.Successful completion of the courses you wish to tutor, as demonstrated by a grade of A or B earned within the past one to two years. Recommendation of an LBCC instructor in the subject area tutoring. Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed the courses tutored. Must have overall GPA of 2.5 or higher and no serious student conduct/disciplinary history.
The student must agree and adhere to all conditions of the Learn and Earn Student Worker program. Department of Institutional Equity and Student Engagement is responsible for assessing eligibility and participation in Learn and Earn employment.

Knowledge and Skills: Requires strong academic competence in the courses tutored, as determined by course instructor. Must have well-developed interpersonal communication skills and study group facilitation skills.
Abilities: Requires the ability to independently perform the essential responsibilities of the position. Must have the ability to learn and employ effective tutoring methods to meet tutor program objectives. Requires the ability to respond sensitively to diverse student needs. Requires ability to communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written English.

Prefer candidates who have experience facilitating group learning experiences.
Prefer candidates who are knowledgeable about study skills and group communication theory.

Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to carry on routine conversations.
Work is performed in the Learning Center, classroom/lab areas, or online, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
