Job Description
Job Purpose


The Accounting Manager for American Builders Supply will be responsible for the leadership and development of the accounting department. This position will also cross train in the other areas of accounting and finance to provide for organizational flexibility and backups.


Duties And Responsibilities


General


  • Servant leader for the accounting department, manage, lead, train, develop and evaluate staff


on the standard operating procedures of ABS along with review of values and Core Competencies.


  • Cross train with AP/Payroll Manager, Senior Accountant and Controller.
  • Ad hoc projects as required
  • Review of complex journal entries including allocation entries, accruals, payroll, prepaid amortizations, intercompany entries
  • Work safely and report unsafe conditions.
  • Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process ensuring it’s completed accurately, including the review of all Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss statements
  • Be the primary driver of the annual budgeting (AOP) process working closely with the Senior Leadership team.
  • Investigate and implement means of automating the accounting functions
  • Maintain the Order Entry tracker and provide summaries to leadership on opportunity areas for improvement.
  • Provide necessary reports and support to help locations track important metrics and identify areas for cost reduction.
  • Travel required (up to 10- 20%)
  • Assist as a monitor during the semi-annual physical inventory at the plant locations.


Qualifications


  • Ability to fill in for AP Accounting Manager and/or Controller as needed.
  • Flexibility to multi-task in a demanding, fast-paced technical environment.
  • Knowledge and exposure to multi-company organizations a plus.
  • Relevant experience in manufacturing, building or distribution industries preferred
  • Must be technically minded, detail oriented, and check the quality of all work prior to distributing
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory/GAAP and ability to perform research as necessary
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
  • Experience with monitoring of physical inventories performed at plant locations desired.
  • Proficient use of MS Office Suite, specifically Excel required.
  • 7-10+ years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Bistrack and Great Plains preferred, or experience with learning new ERP systems and their use.
  • Strong research and reconciliation skills required.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and prioritize


Working conditions


  • Job requires occasional working in manufacturing/warehouse environment which includes high temperatures and humidity.
  • Job requires some extended hours, as needed, to accomplish job requirements.
  • Job requires interaction with all levels within the company.
  • Job requires interaction with internal and external customers to resolve issues.


Physical Requirements


  • Job requires sitting for long periods of time within an office environment.
  • Job requires occasional travel to plant locations and/or Kodiak required meetings.

The receptionist/office Coordinator is the face of Kodiak Building Partners to both clients and team members. The main task of this role is to ensure the office runs smoothly and efficiently on a day-to-day basis. The Office Coordinator will deliver top-level assistance to employees and clients.   • Greet all customers and visitors in a professional manner. Advise office personnel of their guests’ arrival. Make visitors comfortable while waiting by offering a beverage.
  • Answer and transfer callers as appropriate; responding to voice messages as needed throughout the day.
  • Maintain a professional reception area, conference rooms, kitchen, and common areas.


Primary job responsibility Office Coordinator


Required tasks to fulfill primary responsibilities


  • Maintain office lists including email lists, phone lists, and general contact lists.
  • Coordinate with facilities for building maintenance and service requirements.
  • Coordinate monthly employee birthday celebrations.
  • Maintain kitchens, including preparing coffee each day and refilling as needed. Emptying dishwashers at the start of the day and loading dishes as needed.
  • Management of office shipping (FedEx, UPS, Certified mail) and other incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Manage guest offices and assign to visiting executives.
  • Monitor inventory and reorder general office supplies and kitchen supplies to ensure appropriate levels are available to associates.


Primary job responsibility Vendor Relations

  • Maintain relationships with vendors; including ensuring contracts are up-to-date, invoices are paid, and routine services or repairs are upheld.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for external vendors of Kodiak.


Primary job responsibility Misc. Duties


  • Maintain and set up office décor for holidays (Christmas).
  • Data-entry and other administrative responsibilities as required.
  • Perform other duties as required or requested.
  • Assist with preparation for unique events, meetings, or conferences.


Qualifications


  • Must have strong communication skills and excellent customer service skills.
  • 2-3 years working in an office environment/similar role.
  • Be a team player and have a positive attitude.
  • A self-starter who takes initiative.
  • Be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Must have the ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Must have receptionist experience.
  • Must possess a high level of professionalism, and positive attitude when interacting with guests, clients, and colleagues.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High school diploma, GED, or associate degree.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.


Physical Requirements


  • Must be able to lift fifteen pounds at times.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
